Dragonfly Networks

Welcome to the Dragonfly Networks Beta project and development server.

This server is here to provide Dragonfly Networks developers with a “staging area” to test various components of our web development projects.

We currently have six testbed installations of WordPress 2.05 available for developing themes, plugins, and content for our internal projects and client projects.

• Northstar Irrigation Testbed This is available for developing the Northstar Irrigation theme, and developing content, graphics, and other items for the project. I also went ahead and installed PHPWebCalendar as a potential candidate for their scheduling application, and we might also do well to evaluate PHPScheduleIt and any other calendar/scheduling applications we can find.

We also have two installations of Drupal that we are evaluating for managing Dragonfly-Networks.com.

• Drupal 5.0.x Beta - This installation should be tested for stability before deployment.
• Drupal 4.7 - This installation might serve as an alternate CMS for the Northstar Irrigation project.

Lastly, I have also installed a GeekLog basic installation, as we had used it before and it seemed promising. It also does seem to have built-in calendaring functionality, which may make it appropriate for Northstar Irrigation.

Now that we’ve had a chance to try out our new playgrounds, I’m wondering if we needed to tinker with the other projects… I like having some WordPress installs available, but for some reason I never feel inspired enough to tinker with Drupal/Geeklog/etc.

I think I’ve been using CMS’s for so long now that they all seem kind of… boring to me? Maybe. WordPress still rocks, as far as I’m concerned.
